questionWhere can I get information on Recycling?

answernewThe Town has information on its website (www.mississippimills.ca). But we think our Recycling in Mississippi Mills page is a whole lot more comprehensive. Check it out.

questionHow much do our elected officials get paid?

answerNot much really! But then it's really about the service to the community, not the money, right? Well, effective January 2010 the Mayor gets $28,051.53 per fiscal year and councillors each get 12,847.13 per fiscal year. Nominations are open for the Oct 25/2010 municipal elections. See our home page, Election News panel.

questionWhen are the next Municipal Elections?

answerOntario's municipal elections are now on a fixed 4-year schedule. The next one is on October 25, 2010. In Mississippi Mills we will vote by internet or telephone in 2010. Please see the Town's website for information, or contact the MMRA Board.

questionWhat is a "design charette"?

answerA charette is an intense effort to solve any architectural problem within a limited time. For more details, please read the article "Design Charette". We think developers, the Town and neighbourhood groups should be collaboratively engaged in this process from the get-go.

questionAre traffic roundabouts safer and better for the environment?

answerThe long-standing and positive European experience is becoming generally accepted in Canada. Roundabouts moderate traffic speed, keep traffic flowing in one direction, have fewer conflicts than traditional intersections and aid emissions control initiatives and “anti-idling” practices. For really excellent information check out the City of Waterloo's website or refer to this Lanark County Brochure: How to drive, walk, bike through Almonte's new roundabout..

questionWill all FAQ's be answered?

answerSure, but some FAQ's just don't have credible answers. For example the MMRA has asked for many years: "Who really sets the planning rules - the Town or developers?" The only plausible answer is: "It depends!" But is that an answer that MM citizens accept? FAQ!
